Dear Miss Ruston,
Thank you for the
Minutes of the Meeting held on 5th July, to consider the questions raised in Colonel Ride's Report dated 25th April. Unless my memory is at fault one decision of the meeting is not on record. This was to the effect that the Hong Kong Unit would be in a much better position after three weeks or so (i.e. after militarization) to fit names to approved posts and then for a clearer idea of whether it would be possible to get along without Ride and the B.A.A.G. personnel, with the exception of the B.A.A.G. Intelligence Section and the doctors. Gent agreed that he was content to leave a final decision about Ride's availability for the Hong Kong Civil Affairs Unit (not the Emergency Government Scheme) until I could furnish
MISS A.M.RUSTON.
